About Vaquero de Maria
This gelding is now being started under saddle.
He has a truly special pedigree and his conformation and movement reflect it. His sire is a top dressage horse and his paternal grandsire, Dardanos RDL, is a 4X national champion with over 70 show titles. The sire of Dardanos is the legendary Lion of Spain, Indiano 18, twice champion of Mexico.
The maternal side has multiple crosses to a national Champion of Spain, Utebo II. His dam's sire is a Gran Prix Champion Gamarro FONT, sired by a Qualified stallion Habenero LXXXVI and his sire is the first Elite stallion and to be named by ANCCE, Emitano III, also with the Breed Improvement stamp. There are many more famous horses in this pedigree. Vaquero has a floating suspension that you just can't teach.
He was bred and is owned by a Counsel General of Spain who now lives near Houston. Photos of the gelding and some of his famous ancestors are shown below.
